What you eat can influence your mood, skin, energy level and life balance. At Nutrition by Bru, I use a whole foods approach to help you feel satisfied and nourished. I encourage my clients to focus on mindful and intuitive eating, rather than counting numbers (think calories or carbohydrates).

FAQ:

What is a Registered Dietitian (RD)?
The title “RD” is a credential protected legally and therefore can only be used by practitioners who have met the criteria by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Those who have RD credentials have completed the requirements of: earning a bachelor’s degree completed a supervised practice  program and passed a registered exam. RDs must also apply for recertification annually and meet a standard number of continuing education.  Some dietitians use the word “nutritionist” and “dietitian” interchangeably when referring to themselves. The reverse is NOT true-a nutritionist cannot be a dietitian. As a matter of fact, anybody can call themselves a nutritionist.

I don’t live in the New York area. Can you still help me?
I live in Manhattan, but travel around the New York area to see my clients. I meet my clients in person in New York City and Long Island at their homes or offices.  Alternatively, we can “meet” over the phone or online through Skype, regardless of your location.

How does this work?
I provide nutrition counseling to individuals of all ages, as well as families and groups. Many of my clients seek my help due to medically complex, restricted or special diets. It is my passion to help you find delicious foods that work within your health goals and ingredient restrictions.  Counseling and diet coaching is provided to overcome blocks and obstacles that prevent you from leading a healthful life. As a team we will focus on your health. You will learn how to eat what is best for your body and still enjoy delicious food.

What should I expect during the sessions?
Before our initial session, you will complete a medical, nutritional, and lifestyle assessment questionnaire to help me understand your situation and your goals from coaching. During the first meeting, I will clarify the answers and ask more question to make sure I understand where you are coming from and where you want to be.  Together, we will determine your nutritional and health-related goals.  My approach is client-centered. I will provide you with information, ideas, guidance, and motivation, but at the end of the day, you have to take charge of your health and put in the effort.

How much do you charge?
I do not list my fees online because I want to recommend the best program for you. Sometimes, I adjust my services to tailor your needs.  Contact me- we will make sure I’m the right match for your nutrition needs, and we will proceed from there.
